Helpful Hints

Paint Pointers

  • Choose colors that work well together and enhance the beauty of your existing furnishings.
  • Before you buy, consider bringing home paint swatches or samples, to get an idea of how the colors will look together in your space. It's a great way to avoid time-consuming painting mistakes.

Resist the Urge to Stretch

Resist the Urge to Stretch

When masking any surface, pull tape off the roll a few feet at a time. Avoid stretching the tape, as this can cause it to lift up or break.

Get Extra Sharp Lines

Get Extra Sharp Lines

Seal the edge of the tape with the basecoat color. This helps the tape adhere and gives you clean, sharp, professional paint lines.

  • Tie the room together with pillows, throws, candles and other accessories in colors that complement your accent wall.
  • Add interest with lampshades, rugs or cushion covers that contrast with the accent color or enhance the color of the lighter walls.
  • Enrich the atmosphere of your newly painted room with lush plants and fresh flowers.
