Cabinet Door Chalkboard

Here's a fun, creative way to reuse discarded cabinet doors. Simply use ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape, some spray paints and a
few embellishments to create a gorgeous message and activity chalkboard.

PREPARATION
- Clean, dry, and gently sand the cabinet door. Then wipe with a damp cloth.
- Use wood putty to fill in the panel's wood grain and let it dry for 10 minutes.
- Sand the panel until it is smooth, then remove sawdust with a damp cloth.
- Spray the cabinet door with one coat of spray primer and let it dry 24 hours.

Step By Step Guide: |
Step 1: Mask Panel
Mask off the middle panel with newspaper and ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape. Press the edges down firmly by running a finger along the edge. |
Step 2: Paint Frame
Spray the frame with 2 even coats of your selected paint color. Let each coat dry for 4 to 6 hours. Carefully remove the newspaper from the middle panel. |
Step 3: Mask Frame
Wrap newspaper around the back of the cabinet door and fold the edges up. Use ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape along the edges of the frame. |

Step 4: Paint Chalkboard
Spray the panel with 2-3 even coats of the chalkboard paint. Let it dry for 24 hours before you remove the tape and newspaper. |
Step 5: Decorate Frame
Finish your frame by adding decals, scrapbooking paper, or painted decoration. Add hardware (like hooks) last. |
