Step-by-Step Guide:

Step 1: Apply Basecoat

Apply Basecoat

Paint the entire table and chair with a light basecoat color painted directly onto the wood. A fresh coat of paint can revive an older piece of furniture and will ensure that the rest of your design adheres to the surface.

Step 2: Draw Patterns

Draw Patterns

With a pencil and a T-square, draw your color block sections onto the chair. Next, draw your design on the table-top, using your T-square to ensure that your lines are truly square.

Step 3: Mask & Prep

Mask & Prep

With ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape for Delicate Surfaces, mask the chair's color block pattern. Next, mask your tabletop design, starting in the center. Lightly sand the areas you'll paint with your darker colors, to create "teeth" that ensure proper paint adhesion.

Step 4: Add Color

Add Color

Paint your chair from top to bottom and your tabletop from center to outer edge, to avoid dripping paint on previously-painted sections. Use a smaller brush to go between the slats and then brush onto slat area. Gently remove tape before your paint dries.

Note: For best results, follow the paint manufacturer's instructions regarding recoat and dry times.
