Create an imaginative study space that makes homework more interesting! With ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape and a 2-tone diamond pattern, you can personalize an old school desk with artistic accents that any student will love.
Color-block the drawers by painting half of them in a light color and half in a dark color. When you add the drawers to the frame, you can alternate colors or use them adjacently – experiment until you find a look you like!
Step 2: Paint Desktop
Using ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape for Delicate Surfaces, mask around the outside edge of the desktop. Paint the entire surface in your lighter color (example shows light pink). Let it dry for 24 hours.
Step 3: Create Pattern
Create a diamond-shaped template for your pattern (cardboard works best). Measure and mark the center of the desktop. Align the center of your template with the center spot you just marked, then lightly trace an outline of the template. Continue the pattern across the desktops, using a T-square to check your angles.
Step 4: Mask & Paint Diamonds
With ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape, mask the outside edge of every other diamond. Paint the masked diamonds with the darker color. Gently remove tape before the paint dries.
Note: For best results, follow the paint manufacturer's instructions regarding recoat and dry times.
